Video Listerine®

I’m dreamin’ that one day California sends Princess Pelosi packing and spares the nation the agony of having to endure gazing at her botoxed face. In the meantime, Monday, Monday has passed us by and tomorrow will be Wednesday. It was the Summer of 1966. I was a month shy of my seventh birthday when this remarkable group regaled their audience at the Hollywood Palace. Papa John and Mama Cass have since departed our presence, leaving only Denny, Michelle and a huge empty spot in our collective cultural memory.

Their vocals were superb - especially Cass Elliott who, I like to think, is presently crooning to angels. I miss her the most.

  3. I just ate a sandwich in memory of Cass…

I’m weary of this urban myth. Cass Elliot died in London while playing to sold-out audiences at the famed Palladium. It was always her dream to sing there and finally her dream came true.

According to Michelle Phillips, on the night before Cass died, “She had had a little champagne, and was crying. She felt she had finally made the transition from Mama Cass.”

Cass Elliot died in her sleep on the 29th of July, 1974 at age 32 when her heart stopped beating. The official cause of death was fatty myocardial degeneration due to obesity - i.e., natural causes.

  4. She didn’t get that large due to a gland problem…

I’ll start using the / tag for your benefit…

We - all of us - have our demons. Be they glands, depression or God knows what, we can only hope for mercy.
