Through a Glass Darkly

You can always tell when a lawyer is lying: his lips are moving. Like most old, cliched jokes it has some foundation in truth and it was not for nothing that audiences 500 years ago guffawed in appreciation when Dick the Butcher announced, “First thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers.”

I realize that many counselors-at-law take some offense when they hear things like this and I understand why: the crooked, corrupt, greedy, shifty ne’er do wells certainly give a bad name to the 0.00005% of the nation’s barristers who who are actually honest people. After all, John Adams was a lawyer. So was Honest Abe Lincoln.

Perhaps it’s because so many of them enter politics (a logical decision, since legislation consists primarily of laws and that is what lawyers are trained in) and politicians of late appear to have become only marginally more popular than lepers infected with AIDS, that the general public despises them more today than they did Shakespeare’s time.

The current occupant of the Oval Office is, by training and apparently also by instinct, a lawyer who - unknown to most Americans thanks to the Drive-By media - represented ACORN in several key lawsuits in the 1990’s:

Typically, media background pieces note that, on behalf of Acorn, Obama and a team of Chicago attorneys won a 1995 suit forcing the state of Illinois to implement the federal “motor-voter” bill. In fact, Obama’s Acorn connection is far more extensive. In the few stories where Obama’s role as an Acorn “leadership trainer” is noted, or his seats on the boards of foundations that may have supported Acorn are discussed, there is little follow-up. Even these more extensive reports miss many aspects of Obama’s ties to Acorn.

Unless you have an iron stomach and nerves of steel, I suggest you skip Stanley Kurtz’ article. Those who forge ahead and digest the hair-raising awfulness this group represents will be rewarded with the chilly comfort of a completing a jigsaw puzzle picture of corruption that transcends the mundane venality of stuffing one’s pocket with loot. Brigands of that stripe are as commonplace as apple pies at county fairs and more or less accepted as the daily lot of American political life, much as dogs learn to live with fleas.

In Obama’s case the corruption is not so much a disease or even a symptom of disease than it is a vehicle for something more hideously lethal than anyone ever imagined - a political Typhoid Mary infected with a pathogen that, if unleashed on this republic in full fury, would quickly and effortlessly destroy it.

Hence a biographical paper trail for Barack Hussein Obama that is bereft of any detail or meaningful information.

Hence the election to the Presidency of a man whose only campaign platform was the promise of hope and change followed by chants of “Yes, we can!”

Hence an administration that conducts its affairs mostly behind closed doors and away from the eyes and ears of the journalistic media - despite the latter’s fawning bias - while insisting it is the most open and transparent administration in the nation’s history.

For those of us in the alternative media who have carefully monitored this man, his henchmen and his inner circle, there is no mystery as such to anything they say or do: they have plans for this nation, plans that are inherently inimical to its survival as a free market republic.

It explains our ability to know when Barack Obama is lying: his lips are moving.

  1. It is amazing. The American people elected a man that they really knew nothing about. Because Obama is a cipher, they used him to reflect all their anxiety m, and perhaps avarice concerning the path of their own lives. Now they are beginning to understand that the bringer of “Hope and Change” is nothing but a Marxist and Socialist who doesn’t even like the country that he is supposed to be the greatest Advocate for.
