The Seduction of Kathleen Parker

bigparkerIt began during the campaign and culminated with her scathing attacks on the character and qualifications of Sarah Palin. We all saw it. We all read it. And we all knew…he had somehow seduced her - not physically, mind you (although, given the creepy fantasies of Judith Warner, we can only imagine what was going and may still be going on in her head), but certainly politically.

Barack Hussein Obama captured the mind of Kathleen Parker and she has labored in his vineyard ever since.

Thus her latest ode to the One titled “Be Calm, Grasshopper, and Prosper.”

I wonder…to which Grasshopper is she referring?

Is it young Kwai Chang Caine at the foot of Master Po or is it the Grasshopper who danced while the Ant labored in the tale handed down to us from Aesop?

Given the fact that the recently passed Stimulus Bill essentially robs from those who labor in order to redistribute to those who do not, I’m inclined to think its the latter - in which case her words carry an additional ironic weight she probably never intended.

Ms. Parker writes:

No one has a crystal ball these days — certainly not Obama, as he keeps telling us. But his optimism and faith in the American character may be our best medicine. Asked what the American people should do — shop? — he urged confidence that “the same productive capacity that we had before is still there.” Describing government and the economy as ocean liners, not speedboats, he said our goals are long-term. Nothing can be judged by a one-day market rise or fall. At the end of his first presidential term, Americans will be able to say that we are in a different place.

Where that is, no one dares speculate. But it does seem that history, like nature, is cyclical and that our “worsts” become less worse over time. Someday our grandchildren, those little gleams waiting to be realized, may look at their shrinking retirement funds and console each other: “Hey, back in 2009? Much worse.”

Please bear with me while I deconstruct some of the dumbest things I have ever read from the pen of an ostensibly intelligent journalist.

No one has a crystal ball these days — certainly not Obama, as he keeps telling us.

What the hell is THAT supposed to mean? You don’t need a crystal ball to tell you that socialist policies fail every time they have been tried, Kathleen. You need a history book. Crack one open sometime and learn. The past is the key to both the present and the future. If you are unaware of that fact, then I strongly recommend you Google “Santayana” and study the results.

But his optimism and faith in the American character may be our best medicine. Asked what the American people should do — shop? — he urged confidence that “the same productive capacity that we had before is still there.”

Are you kidding me? What optimism? What faith? Have you ever pulled your head out of the Man-Child’s lap long enough to actually listen to his speeches?  In none of his glorious orations has he even hinted at any of these noble thoughts. I can’t recall him ever praising the exceptionalism of the American people or the excellence of their collective character. Instead, we are berated and cudgeled with prophecies of doom and apocalypse. Capitalism is bad and capitalists are worse and government will be there to make everything alright.

THAT is what we hear…ad nauseum. And with each passing day, more and more people are getting tired of hearing it.

Describing government and the economy as ocean liners, not speedboats, he said our goals are long-term. Nothing can be judged by a one-day market rise or fall.

And yet his administration spins every policy decision both ways, crafting the PR carefully, confidant that the Drive-By media will sing praise and hosannas to his name if the unemployment rate drops by one tenth of a percentage point. On the other hand, if the economy continues to tank, he’ll still be able to fall back on the old “it’s gonna take some time” line that liberals have been reciting like a mantra since the New Deal. And the Drive-By media - including the likes of you - will run interference for him.

At the end of his first presidential term, Americans will be able to say that we are in a different place. Where that is, no one dares speculate.

Perhaps YOU don’t dare speculate, for fear of losing face-time with the President’s crotch. As for me, I won’t speculate - I’ll tell you straight out, Kathleen: if the President’s agenda succeeds we’ll be in a different place, alright: presently it’s called Venezuela, although in our case, I suspect it would be called something like the United Socialist States of Amerika.

But it does seem that history, like nature, is cyclical and that our “worsts” become less worse over time.

Sure they do. They always do. But how much time? If the Obama Plan for America is implemented and if history is any guide, that period of time will be reckoned not in years but decades.

Someday our grandchildren, those little gleams waiting to be realized, may look at their shrinking retirement funds and console each other: “Hey, back in 2009? Much worse.”

Actually, if the Obama Plan succeeds, their retirement plan will be  a subsistence pension from Leviathan, complete with rationing coupons for medical care.

But none of that will happen, Kathleen, because there are still enough Americans remaining who have not swallowed the Kool-Aid - or anything else the President may have offered - and  are still willing to fight for the return of the republic given to us by the Founders.

One by one, in tens and hundreds and thousands, we are rising from the ashes of November 4 to reclaim the Republican Party in the name of Ronald Reagan and then the republic in the name of the men on whose shoulders he stood.

You can join us or you can get the hell out of our way. Your call.

  1. I used to love her columns so much. I really hated to see her lose her perspective. I suspect it will take some real suffering for her to get it back.

…the President’s agenda succeeds we’ll be in a different place, alright: presently it’s called Venezuela…

Now that was a very good line. It points out very well what kind of change Obama is really trying to bring about.
