The Rush to Dissemble Tour - Part 3

rush-holt1Part 1 of this series reported on events that transpired before Congressman Rush Holt took the stage. Part 2 reported on the Congressman’s opening remarks and posted the first of two videos containing highlights of the subsequent Q & A session. In this part I will conclude with the final Q & A video which includes an exchange between Mr. Holt and an area radiologist.

Events like this one leave me thankful I am a student of history. What most people don’t realize is that Americans who lived a century and a half ago and beyond that were a far rowdier crowd than they are today (although that dynamic appears to be changing).

In the early days of the republic and moving forward through the 19th century, political events - be they sessions of Congress or town hall meetings - were far less rigidly structured and subsequently far more exciting than what we see today.

If you want proof, look no further than the British Parliament:

I’m not sure if C-Span still carries Prime Minister’s Questions every week; I was an avid fan and watched it every chance I got. What you heard in that exchange is the echo of our own past. Lest we forget: the United States is the eldest independent daughter of Great Britain and deep in the psyche of every American who loves this country is a spark of Albion.

What we see in town halls today is the reincarnation of town halls past. In those days, Americans - especially those in rural areas - were brutal bunch for any politician to deal with. Americans who were not as well-educated as those in “the big city” nevertheless possessed a compensatory overabundance of horse-sense and could sniff out bullshit a mile away.

The unfortunate Congressman who dared proffer cowflop for truth considered himself lucky if his constituents didn’t tar and feather him on the spot and then run him out of town on a rail.

Ever wonder what tarring and feathering is like? Check this out.

Not a pretty sight. Congresscritters these days should be thankful all they get in the way of abuse is confined to the spoken word. But even that may change if they pass the Obamacare Abomination - all of which leads us the the verbal tarring and feathering endured by Congressman Rush Holt on the part of constituents who have taken the time and effort to educate themselves on the issues.

As you have seen in previous videos in this series, the town hall audience at this event is comprised of two factions: those who support nationalized health care and those who oppose it. The former are generally ignorant of the details of HR 3200, relying instead on their trust in Congress and the administration to look out for their best interests. They also generally lack a basic understanding of free market economics and the tragic history of socialist economics. Indeed, many of them are ignorant of our own Constitution, the nature of the government of this republic and even history itself.

Opponents of government-run health care, on the other hand, are very well informed and can cite chapter and page number with regard to the objectionable provisions of the bill. Moreover, they understand the Constitution and the nature of our republican form of government much more deeply than the average Obamabot - or even the average Democrat Congressman, for that matter.

So why the shouting? Why the disruption? Why the heckling and catcalling? Whence arises such obvious anger and tension? That’s simple to answer: the radical nature of the Obama agenda and the speed with which Congress is attempting to implement it has made activists of  citizens who, just a year ago, were content to keep to themselves and go about the business of their daily lives. What these people correctly perceive is an administration together with the Democrat Party in Congress attempting to transmute a free market republic into a socialist oligarchy. Quite naturally, they are alarmed and frightened by these developments and are rising up and closing ranks to oppose them.

They shout because oftentimes that is the only way to be heard - especially on the part of Congresscritters who have ignored them or, worse still, mocked or ridiculed them. They are weary of the duplicitous tactics of the Left - weary of the lies, the obfuscations, the half-truths, the bogus legalisms, sophistry and casuistry. For far too long they have behaved with civility - only to have the Left ignore such decorum and stomp all over them time and again. Well, the proverbial shoe is on the other foot now and the Left is discovering what it feels like to get their asses kicked with it.

What you are observing when you watch Congressman Holt’s town hall is a once silent and obedient majority that is no longer silent and refuses to play by the rules of polite society. You are observing the mounting wrath of an awakened American Giant that realizes it is not the minority but, rather, the majority.

That said, let us see what other questions the Congressman addressed.

Only too slowly are Senators and Representatives - particularly the elitist liberals in the Democrat Party - starting to realize the bloom is off the Obama rose only seven months after his inauguration. The American people have awakened to the reality of who and what Barack Obama really is. They have awakened to the reality of who and what the Democrat Party has become. They were fooled once in November of 2008 - they will not be fooled again.

The momentum has shifted from “Hope and Change” to “Throw the Bastards Out.” True to who and what they are, the statists in the Democrat Party and the White House grievously underestimated the ability of the American people to sniff out a fraud while tragically (for them, at least) miscalculating the size and intensity of the response.

As we head into September, the ranks of those who oppose not only Obamacare but the entire agenda of Barack Obama and the Democrats will continue to swell. The clamor of opposition rising from the American people will grow to a full-throated roar and on September 12 the nation’s capital will witness one of the largest protest rallies in our history as hundreds of thousands of informed and angry American citizens descend upon Washington, DC to make their voices heard.

The day of reckoning is approaching.

After watching Part 3, I would like to amend the above cited observations re: Part 2……..

This guy sounds like a real F***ING Schmuck to me.

I hope the “voters” are learning a lesson from all this BS.

  2. He had to get a page from a book to answer the questions?! Are you fuckin’ kidding me?

I know more than the asshats in Congress and I’m a “redneck.”!

  3. Excellent expose MR.

  4. Dial soap for all…

  5. As long as the tar and the feathers are biodegradable, I would bet that the environitwits would be ok with their use on Congress persons…

  6. My initial thought on Rush Holt was that he obviously never had to ‘create wealth’ via a real job and that is background was in academia and government and very little if any experience in the private sector.

He has been paid by university or government his whole life.

I had him pegged right on.

  7. The Democrats look to be headed for electoral upset, but my stomach is already churning at the prospect of voting for the Republican Socialist Party candidates. We have been ill-served by both parties for far too long.
