That’s certainly what the Drive-Bys are crowing about with regard to the recent batch of unemployment statistics recently released by the gummint. Not more than a week has passed since the Man-Child delivered his State of Obama address in which he promised there “will be more jobs” and, mirabile dictu, the jobless rate has fallen from 10.2% to 9.7%.

Wow! He truly is a miracle worker. No sooner does he announce that jobs will be created than the jobless rate begins to fall. Ah, but the Devil, as they say, is in the details.

The Labor Department said the economy shed 150,000 jobs in December, compared to 85,000 previously reported, but November was revised to a gain of 64,000, up from 4,000. Annual benchmark revisions to payrolls data showed the economy has purged 8.4 million jobs since the start of the recession in December 2007.

Analysts polled by Reuters had forecast payrolls gaining 5,000 and the unemployment rate to edge up to 10.1 percent in January from 10 percent. Median estimates from the top 20 forecasters expected payrolls to be unchanged last month.

A sharp increase in the number of people giving up looking for work helped to depress the jobless rate. The number of  discouraged job seekers rose to 1.1 million in January from 734,000 a year ago.

Hmmmm. It appears the Drive-Bys aren’t headlining this story as accurately as they could have. Of the 8.4 million jobs that vanished since December 2007, nearly half of them were lost since Obama was elected. And the jobless number seems to have decreased only because those who have been out of work for extended periods of time have exhausted their unemployment benefits and since given up their search for a new job.

But headlines are all that count. Headlines are what get reported - along with selected snippets from the whole story.

Rather than admit the facts or admit his socialist agenda is scaring the crap out of the private sector, the Man-Child has chosen instead to stay the Stalinist course and rely on his faithful lapdogs in the Drive-By media to repeat over and over again that happy days really are here again even when the ever-increasing number of jobless Americans know all too well they are not.

In other, earth-shatteringly import news, Katie Couric - America’s most over-rated and over-paid (she makes $15 million per year) network “news” talking head - discusses things of pressing importance in a Harper’s Bazaar interview:
