Free Flights for Me But None for Thee

pelosi1Only a Congresscritter who hails from a district exquisitely gerrymandered to include the creme de la creme of California’s freaks, goons, mistakes of nature and lost parental wagers with God would have the raw, unbridled chutzpah to do what this woman does. She gets away with it because she knows that, barring prosecution for criminal conduct, she will represent her district for the rest of her natural life.

There is always the hope that if, God forbid, push comes to shove and another American revolution takes place, she is held to account for her treasonous conduct in Congress, convicted and dealt the punishment traditionally accorded to traitors.

In the meantime, savor the hypocrisy. Delight in the heedless and wanton abuse of power by the woman who proclaimed after becoming Speaker of the House that hers would be the most open and ethical Congress in history.

In truth, it has become the most corrupt. And she has the dubious distinction of being both the most corrupt and the most stupid human being ever to occupy that office.

In a post appropriately titled “Un-fricken-believeable…” Doug Ross details the latest outrage courtesy of SanFranNan:

Since Nancy Pelosi took over as Speaker in 2006, she’s rung up millions in military travel expenses.

Worse still, she also appears to have requisitioned entire flights for the personal use of her children and grandchildren. That is, unaccompanied by any member of Congress, her kids, in-laws and grandchildren are utilizing entire military passenger jets for their routine travel needs.

Using the documents obtained by Judicial Watch’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, I have discovered the following manifests and travel requests.

22-Feb-2007: A military jet is requisitioned for the sole travel needs of the Speaker’s son, Paul Jr.

13-Apr-2007: A military jet is utilized for the unaccompanied travel of the Speaker’s daughter, son-in-law and grandson.

30-Oct-2008: A military jet is requisitioned for the Speaker’s daughter and a son-in-law, Peter Kaufman. to commute between San Francisco and Washington.

Over at American Thinker, Rick Moran notes:

Military flights cost between $5-$20 thousand dollars per hour to operate. Pelosi only reimburses the government between $120-$400 per flight. You and I pick up the rest of the tab with our tax dollars.

It’s all perfectly legal, of course - or is it? Even if it is, perhaps we should start asking why a politician’s children and grandchildren should have their travel subsidized at taxpayer expense?

What makes this utterly galling is the fact that Pelosi is not exactly destitute:

The Pelosi family has a net worth of nearly $12.5 million as of 2008, largely from investments. In addition to their large portfolio of jointly owned San Francisco Bay Area real estate, the couple also owns a vineyard in St. Helena, California, valued between $5 million and $25 million. Pelosi’s husband also owns stock, including $1 million in Apple Computer, and is the owner of the California Redwoods of the United Football League. Pelosi continues to be among the richest members of Congress.

It shouldn’t be legal. Elsewhere I have argued and continue to argue that the individual states ought to be responsible for compensating their Representatives and Senators. Likewise, they ought to be responsible for remunerating the federal government (i.e., the citizens of all the United States) for any expenses incurred by the federal government on their behalf.

Watch how quickly these sneaky bastards and self-indulgent bitches content themselves to rub shoulders with hoi polloi on commercial flights, knowing fully well that a bill for hundreds of thousands of dollars presented by Uncle Sam to their state legislators would likely result in their being tarred and feathered in the rotundas of their own state capitol buildings.

‘Tis a consummation devoutly to be wished for.

  1. I can’t wait to see that speaker’s gavel ripped out of her Progressive Elitist gnarly hands. By the way, Colonel, that picture can scare small children.

  2. I agree with kingsjester, not only regarding her removal as speaker … I hadn’t before seen that particular photo … it is scary! There should be a disclaimer.

We will pray that she is not long for the political world … be gone you ugly wicked woman.

Question … why does she need subsidised flight of any kind? One would think that she would have the innate ability to jump on her broom and take off to anywhere she desires.

  3. Lets see, her father was a politician somewhere out east. I assume he stole a good deal of money from the taxpayers, and she inherited some of those funds. Just how did her hubby make so much money? Did he have wealthbefroe they were married, or did she and her daddy help her hubbly steal their wealth? I really do not know the history here.

  4. Lugosi’s father was Mayor of Baltimore…She gets military transport cuz she’s 3rd in line and we are “at war”…The AF did stand up to her at least once, she wanted the AF to reposition her plane — while in the SF area — because she didn’t want to have to drive 90 minutes…

    She’s a disgrace…
