Don’t Hold Your Breath
There was a time - not too long ago - when I was confident that resurgent conservatism would bring a sea change to Washington, DC and ultimately to the republic. Flush with optimism in the wake of the spring Tea parties and the summer town halls, I truly believed the tide of public opinion would restrain an otherwise immoderate Congressional Democrat majority and an ambitiously ideological President.
It appears I was wrong. Everything is up for sale these days - including Democrat Senators.
Despite the perks Nelson managed to garner for Nebraska in finally agreeing to support the overhaul bill, the backlash from those who wanted Nelson to hold a hard line against the measure was immediate.
Abortion foes howled in protest. Nebraska Right to Life, which has long endorsed Nelson, issued a scathing statement that dubbed Nelson a traitor. The state’s Catholic bishops followed Sunday with a statement that they were “extremely disappointed” in him.
The chairman of Nebraska’s Republican Party declared Nelson’s decision to be the end of his political career in Nebraska, and within hours of Nelson’s announcement, the state GOP launched a Web site, to collect funds to oust the Democrat in the 2012 election.
Good luck with all of that. You think Nelson honestly gives a crap that Nebraska Pro-Lifers are pissed off by his treachery? He’s confident the dimwits - including the pro-lifers who wallowed in the delusion that Democrats can actually be “moderate” - who elected him before will elect him again. Odds are it’s a bet he’ll win.
With each passing day it’s becoming clear to me that the battle for the soul and the ultimate survival of this republic will not be fought with ballots - a year from now we will have passed the point of no return, in spite of the election results.
The decline has begun. Instead of counting on ballots I suggest you start hoarding bullets: you’re going to need them.

REVOLUTION.
Kind of rolls off the tongue now.
You are so wrong.
You obviously don’t seem to realize that the secret lies in voting; getting the vote out; and then defending your vote at the precinct level.
I am now not so sure that “getting rid” of the Eeyores of the world is such a good idea, because in their place we have - as you demonstrated above - a viral and intelligent Grinch of the American Spirit which is a persistent and unrelenting spirit of passion and determination that you know nothing of that is resident in it’s people.
Voting these scumbags out of office doesn’t get rid of them…They just get bankrolled by Soros and his ilk to continue their Anti-American ways…
Nice editing…Not quick enuf, tho

Just the start…
Thanks, Charlotte - your’re making my point in that pessimism is contagious just like persistence and passion is contagious.
As you describe, there are days that you don’t feel like fighting. It’s those days that you have to stay away from the Eeyores and the professional intelelligent Grinches.
Intelligence from a Grinch though, is not conducive to winning any battles.
Rather, those are the ones that have to have their asses whipped, just like in the old days of capitol punishment for sloth.
I can understand your discouragement with the same-ol’, same-ol’ sell outs. However, note this: All the sellouts were democrapts that only wavered because of pressure from the tea partys. Also, none of the usual republican rinos bolted or sold out. The tea partys and your personal effort has had some effect.
Manly, think on this - this is not the same bill that would have passed without your efforts. If you hadn’t kept up the pressure, there would have been McCain, Snowe, Collins, Graham, and all the other RINOS bolting and voting yes, to make the result bipartisan, which is what Obam/Ried/Pelligro needed to make the bill legit. This exercise, along with the Tea Parties, have put the FEAR into the liberal and moderate republicans. It is also instrumental inputting the FEAR in conservative and moderate democrapts. Be Proud Col. Manly Rash! You Done Good!
Also, the fat lady hasn’t sung yet. With Coburn and DeMint in the senate, Saracuda leading the net-public, We got lotsa battles to go, and we are going to win the war!
What happened to your post Charlotte?
Do I need to start screen capping?
It went…POOF…20-20
Another thought: The senate bill and the house bill are mutually exclusive. The left socialists want all or nothing, the right conservatives don’t want most of it, but will accept poisoning the well for the socialists, and the pro/anti abortion folks are also all or nothing. By the time we finish with this, the democrapts will be eating each other, and the conservatives will be cooly noting the actions of all for future corrections and retributions. Remember how your big sister used to play all the sibs off against ech other to maintain her power? This is what the repubs are doing to bring down Obam and the dems.
We live in interesting times, and this should be interesting. The blood letting will be awesome.
Manly, I know you are a much better writer than I, but I am deliberately makind one purposeful error. The
style book says I should capitalize senate, congress, democrat, republican, socialist and government. I feel these bodies have lost the respect requiring capitalization. When I respect them again, they will be promoted to U/C. Only Conservative get an U/C>
OCB:
Conservative, Conservative, Conservative! democrat, socialist, congersman (H/T to Walt Kelly), senator, marxist, republican, leftist, liberal, rino, moderate, communist, green, etc., whatever.
Thanks for the suggestion. That felt good!
Agreed, OCB. I’m fat. I sing. And I have not yet BEGUN to sing!
P.S. Manly, don’t forget to put GOD in the equation. NOTHING is too big for Him! When I feel despair then I remember that one thing and it gives me strength to keep on fighting!!!
