About Manly Rash

manlyflagwashEarly in 2008 I registered to comment at a popular conservative website, choosing  Manly Rash as my nom de blog. It had a certain, old-fashioned, Dudley Doright panache that I figured most people would never forget. Apparently they didn’t, and I soon acquired a loyal following of readers who often came to the site looking for my commentary.

On November 4, 2008 I left that site to start my own: Manly’s Republic, a blog dedicated to preserving and spreading the legacy of liberty. Long before the election I realized that Barack Hussein Obama posed a grave threat to the future of this nation and on the evening of the election my worst fears became reality. The blog made its official debut on January 15, 2009.

Shortly after Barack Obama was inaugurated five days later, the direction in which he planned to take this nation became alarmingly clear, as did the task that lay before me. The time had come to stand up and be counted as a patriot.

That is why I invested in a Continental Army officer’s uniform - complete with sword - and became Colonel Manly Rash.

Whenever I appear in public in this role I am always in uniform. I wear it to remind my fellow Americans of how this nation began…of the price paid in sweat, tears, treasure and blood to obtain our liberty from the tyranny of the British Crown. I serve as a living reminder that we must never forget our past and it is the doom of humanity that we forget.

The goal of Manly’s Republic is to inform, inspire, rally and, on occasion, even amuse fellow conservatives and patriots as we battle to protect, preserve and defend the last, best, hope of mankind on earth.

Thank you for visiting. May God bless the United States of America!

Your humble servant,

  1. Ahhhh…..

…the air feels so warm and breezy in here.
Where’s my coconut milk drink mix?

Shape up host, we are ready to be served.

Oh by the way, thanks for making this site very cell phone friendly.

This is the easiest downloading site I’ve seen in a long time (besides something.com).

Sure makes keeping up to speed with your updates much easier when I’m on a Blackberry device wandering around looking in the bushes, if you catch my drift.

Can we spread our wings now?

  2. Glad to see you’re up and running. Looking forward to expressing and reading viewpoints of the “conservative minded.” Good luck and God bless!

  3. Would anyone like a celebratory margarita and a shot of Jager?

Can’t wait for the revolution to begin…..Got my rash ready.

  4. Open this confounded trapdoor! Bags, the party’s downstairs!!

  11. Glad to have found my way here. I’m looking forward to some interesting discussions on what may very well become one of the premier conservative sites.

  12. So this is where you’ve been since the election. Nice site, and it’s good to see you fighting the good fight away from Hot Air (where you’re quite missed!). Sending the link to my husband and friends post haste.

  13. This is the first time I comment here and I must say that you share genuine, and quality information for other bloggers! Good job.
p.s. You have a very good template for your blog. Where did you find it?

  14. Hey Manly!

Sorry I took so long to find you. Seems you’re not a moment too soon. This country needs a dose of what The Gipper would do.

    Keep up the good work!

  15. Found ya, missed ya, thanks hotairjoseph!

  16. Greatest President of the 20th Century? No way. What about TR? Eisenhower? 20th Century Democrats such as FDR, Wilson, and Truman are all ranked higher than Reagan, who at best is #10 overall and only the 3rd best 20th century President among his own party.

  17. I missed your posts from HotAir…someone over there mentioned that you had your own site, so here I am.

  18. Sick and tired of the Palin bashing over at hotair … I’m glad I found this site.

Sick of the trolls there as well

  19. It is nice to know where you went! I was a big fan over at that “Conservative Website”. Good Luck here.

I am a Marin County conservative.

Je te salute, et j’espere que vous vous souvenez les “days of hell avec La Mam’selle”.

  21. Fear not, there are many real Americans out there ready to see Mr. one term go back to muslim land. and there is many people working to bring America back.Certainly we have many gullible people that need to see that the freaks and frauds be run out of town We will be ready for 2012.
The best president that we ever had will be here in 2012 for our children and our grandchildren.

  22. My fellow American Citizens,

What do Billy Mays , Michael Jackson, and Farrah Fawcett have in common? The news would rather talk about them than the President, U.S. Congress, or Judge Sotomayor. They want you to stop and think, “Where was I when Elvis died?” not “Where was I when my Civil Liberties died?” for those of you paying more attention to pop culture than real life I have some breaking news for you. Bush is no longer President, stop blaming him. Unemployment is up, contrary to what the “news” reported Obama saying. North Korea wants to kill us. U.S. President Barack Obama said on Monday the coup that ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya was illegal and would set a “terrible precedent” of transition by military force unless it was reversed.

Do not get me wrong — President Oabma is not being under-covered in the news. We know that he has a new dog, not from the pound like he suggested. We know that he likes to go on dates with his wife that cost over one hundred thousand dollars at a time. We know that his Grandmother was a “typical white woman”. We know what church he attends, or attended, even though he didn’t know any of the sermons given by his pastor for 20 years. We know that he will allow five days of public comment before signing any bills, oops he did it again.

The U.S. House just passed the single largest tax increase in U.S. history. Congress wants the right to control anything that emits Carbon Dioxide, including but not limited to: , Coal, & Cows. Oh, did I mention that we emit Carbon Dioxide also? Or that trees and plants need it to live? It would seem that the 1,500 page bill passing (219-212) would be alittle more worthy of mentioning. Now Al Gore can sell his “Carbon Off-Sets , ” whatever that really is. I suppose that Obama is keeping his promise that “Energy Prices Will Skyrocket Under My Cap and Trade Plan”* Also, good job passing the “Official” appology for slavery. Let’s see, slavery Officially ended when the 13th Amendment to the Constitution was ratified by the states in 1865, the 14th Amendment provided for Civil Rights in 1868, the 15th Amendment banned racial restrictions on voting in 1870. So, everyone who was directly affected by conditions in the United States before this time period is dead! Let’s move on already.

This just in ‘Transformers’ tops global box office. Wait, falling for media distractions again. Well it made the headlines anyways.

Let’s make a new law. In order to be a Supreme Court Justice, you have to have less than 50% of your cases overturned by the Supreme Court. Attention Judge Sotomayor, discrimination is as discrimination does. You do not have to be a minority in the total global population to be discriminated againt. Oh wait, there are more than 6.5 billion people and nearly 2/3 of them are Asians. I suppose the White fire fighters were minorities afterall. The Equal Protection Clause, part of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, provides equal protection and does not make room for a “wise Latina woman” whom would judge better than white male.

So, you stick with the top headline on CNN “Jackson’s mom gets guardianship of his kids” and I’ll stick with “Target: Hawaii”. Thanks Wall Street Journal for bringing news. Now go back to reading the complete coverage of Michael Jackson’s death.

  23. Judge Sotomayor is NOT a “Latino” She was born, raised & educated in the good ole U.S.A. SHE IS AN AMERICAN!!! Why is she ashamed of that?

  24. great speech yesterday at Perth Amboy.looking forward to reading your blog regularly and hope to see you on the battle feild in the future my patriotic brother

Greetings and Salutations!

My name is Manly Rash and I will be your pundit this evening. I like it when restaurant servers introduce themselves in that fashion – as long as they don’t overdo it. Let’s hope I know the boundaries and only rarely cross them.

Welcome to A Dose of Rash Wisdom. All are welcome to comment on my posts and on each other’s comments. I ask only that you bear with me as I settle into a role I once only dreamed of just two months ago.

If you are new here and have not already done so, please take a moment to register as a member of Manly’s Republic, as this will enable you to comment if you are inclined to do so. If you wish you can always e-mail me: manly@manlyrash.com .

If you choose to comment on this site I ask that you please exercise moderation and restraint and avoid profanity and related naughtiness of the type that will result in the removal of the comment.

Please spread the word about this new blog so that others may enjoy it as well.

  1. Manly, my friend! The blog looks great….. and it’s so good to see familiar names from HA & MM.

Mmmm, though. Manly, we need a preview button in the commenting section. At least Some of us are prone to typos and such.

Anyway, here’s wishing you the highest success on your new mission!

  2. Maura says: “we need a preview button in the commenting section. At least Some of us are prone to typos and such.”

I’m inclined to agree, Maura. However, at this time all of our resources are being directed towards the completion of the website. It’s a huge and very complex project but I can assure you that when it’s finished you and everyone else will be more than pleased.

  3. Better Nate than Lever.

    Errr, I mean…

  4. Well…well…well Mr. Rash,

    So…we meet again sir.

    I just knew we would.

You have a new litle “itch” to contend with mister. ;>p

    Great to be on board.

    Let’s plan something “historic” together…shall we. ✍

    Not Over.

  5. Manly!

After your departure from HA, I was starting to think you had been carted off to a re-education camp and were now making Hopenchange buttons and selling unicorn feed.

Nice place ya got here. I hope you won’t mind if I stop by and louse the place up a bit on occasion. I promise to use the newspaper on the kitchen floor and will try not to throw up on the upholstery.

  6. So glad to find Manly! Now more than ever do we need you and your tremendous insight and intelligence! Hope and pray things go fantastic for ya!

  7. There you are..

  8. Man, just got out of Allahpoptech’s digs .. it is getting very stale over there. Howdy y’all..

  9. Thanks for the tweet. Enjoy your site. The trouble with America today, is that there aren’t enough people who share Ronald Reagan’s values. But, as you indicate above-we’re working on that. The job is becoming increasingly challenging with the passage of time; two full generations have come along since RR and Nancy were in the WH. Hard to believe, but true. Expect that you’re in touch with Sean Hannity, Ed Meese, Michael Reagan, Rush and others who agree that conservatism is America’s strength. Thank you for the invite-glad you’re on the job.

  10. Hey, Dude!

  11. I was there at 8:00….We started the march around 10:00 after listening to awsome speakers and “Glad to be an American”…I thought I was at the beginning, but stopped at the porta potties and was shoved off to the left behind a fence….The speakers were great and I will never forget the experience. One of the best things was the people I met - 6 of us on the plane going to Atlanta….not just us older folks but a 29 year old woman from Tyler Texas leaving a 4 year old and 9 month old at home to march…..The pilot was saying goodbye to the passengers, saw my sign”KILL THE BILL”. He thanked me for marching. It was very emotional and very rewarding….Thank you. Karen
